Patrice graduated from boarding school, in Normandy, in 1981. Before joining the army, he worked as a guide on a Seine riverboat. After his stint in the army, Patrice worked as an antiques dealer. He traveled throughout Europe buying art and antiques. During this time, he continued to paint with passion and studied under Belgium artists.

In 1990, Patrice opened an antiques and art store at the Paris flea market. He opened an antiques and art gallery in Paris in 1995.

Patrice visited the United States on business for the first time in 1996. In 1999, he moved to Pensacola, Florida working as an antiques and art dealer. He later moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 2003, continuing his work as an antiques and art dealer.

Patrice became a full time artist in 2006, painting and selling his original art. In 2007, Patrice became a listed artist.

After years in New York, he’s back in the south and continues his dream of painting, selling original pieces throughout the United States and Europe.

Is it a Photo or a Watercolor?

You may wonder if the images you are looking at are really photos or watercolors. They certainly don’t look like photographs.

The truth is, they really are photographs…with one big difference. They are not printed on traditional photo paper, but rather on watercolor paper. And therein lies the unique difference.

When printing on watercolor paper, the colors are softened, which produces a more subtle color tone and vibrancy. Plus, the watercolor paper provides a visible texture that is missing when printing the image on photo paper. The end result is an image that looks more like a painting than photography.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I headed west in the mid-’70’s to escape the snow and cold of the frozen tundra.

First stop was Phoenix, Arizona. It was there that I became interested in the history of the ancient Native American and Spanish archeological sites of the Southwest. For the next 10 years I explored and photographed the area extensively.

From there it was on to California where I spent the next 21 years continuing my interest in the history of the area. Most notable are the historic Spanish Missions and ancient sites of the American Southwest.

Now located in the Pensacola area, I capture all of the beauty and history that is the Emerald Coast of Florida.

I have been a juried member of Blue Morning Gallery in Pensacola since 2008 and have exhibited in several local art shows, including the Pensacola Museum of Art’s Art in the Park, the juried members exhibition at the Pensacola Museum of Art, and The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida.

My work is also represented and sold through several U.S. National Parks and leading retail outlets throughout the Southwest, West, Alabama & Florida.

July 2014 Featured Artist

Daniel Baradon

Daniel (Dan) Baradon grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, majoring in Biology with a concentration in Field Biology.  His passion for wildlife photography goes back to his undergraduate thesis, The Life History of the Yellow-billed Magpie at Rancho El Chorro, San Luis Obispo County, California, where he observed, annotated, and photographed the behavior, interaction and socialization of the Yellow-billed Magpie (Pica nuttalli) in a natural setting over a 2-year period.  The Yellow-billed Magpie is only found in the central coast of California and nowhere else in the world.  Also during this time, he pursued many artistic endeavors that ranged from Art, Landscape and Wildlife Photography, Stained Glass to lost-wax cast sculpture and jewelry.  Upon graduation in 1978, he attended a year of graduate school in Soil Science and joined the United States Air Force in 1979.  He served for over 24 years and retired in 2004.  His assignments took him overseas to Germany and Denmark where he studied Stained Glass, Marquetry with two German Meisters (Masters in their subject areas), framing and matting, and took in a lot of classical and historical artwork throughout Europe (Italy, Germany, Greece, Denmark, France and Belgium).

After a long layoff in Photography, he has come back to his roots.  With the support of his family, he has rediscovered his passion for a wide number of genres within the photographic medium.  His passion for photographing people, musical artists, wildlife, landscapes is reborn in many of his recent works.  Living in Florida and the beautiful gulf coast on and off for the last 29 years has provided him an open canvas for wildlife photography and the many of the beauties present here.

June 2014 Featured Artist

 Jeff Spade

Jeff Grew up in Southeast Michigan, and attended Airport Community High School in
Carleton. Received a Fine Arts Scholarship to Monroe County Community College
studying both Painting and Ceramics. Later majored in Graphic Design/Illustration at
Oakland Community College, received Associates Degree of Arts and Science; also
attended Center for Creative Studies, Detroit, MI., for advanced design. Business
owner of ACEART since 2002.

Artist Statement:
Painting imaginative abstract formations on canvas has been my favorite subject for
many years.  Acrylics- as a primary medium using a mix of “Old World” color with a
“New World” contemporary look and feel. I am determined to work each piece a little
different with texture and color. These fundamental basics have been the balance and
break though for many of the works. Painting with more open flare and expression
seems to release new attitudes and sensations, thus allowing my sub consciousness to
take over on shapes. “Having the freedom to paint with all my devotion has made a
tremendous impact on how I do things now…with all the disciplines and traditional
restraints now broken, one gets a feeling from the work that clearly demonstrates this
display of passion and freedom”
